SOS Reactive Skin Routine
Now and again, a woman will reach out with skin that is so reactive that even water burns. As I dig a little deeper, they share that they have tried so many products and wasted so much money that they are feeling desperate but also hopeless.
I see it all the time: Women taking advice from well-intentioned skin pros and beauty brands end up with worse skin than when they started. Or a period of skincare neglect or inconsistency combined with natural aging can set your skin way back making it more vulnerable than you have experienced before.
This lipid-first routine can also be used to restore the skin barrier if it has become damaged from a treatment gone wrong, difficult life circumstances, health problems, weather shifts, or if you have a lot of fear around introducing skincare and want to begin slowly.
The goal of the routine below is to make the skin instantly more comfortable to quickly transition the skin from dysfunctional to functional.
Begin by starting with steps 1 and 4, and then add steps 2 and 3 as the barrier strength before committing to full-sized productions, and the skin becomes less reactive. Always patch-test products with our free Samples before purchasing full-size products.
AM/PM Routine
1. Cleanser: Ruby Crystal Cleanser
Once makeup is gently and completely removed, apply a nickel sized amount and thoroughly massage skin for up to 60 seconds. Use water to remove the cleanser, and gently assist removal with a tepid to warm damp facial cloth if necessary.
If you wakeup and you feel dry, instead of cleansing as your normally do, you may do an essence cleanse where you spritz your face with your essence and remove with cotton round or dry MakeupEraser.
2. Mist: Hydrating Treatment Essence (only add when the sting is gone)
While skin is still damp from cleansing, hold mist 6-9 inches from the face and spritz 3-5 times to create a light layer of moisture.
3. Hydrating Serum: Hydrate Gel (only add when the sting is gone)
While skin is still damp from mist, apply 5-6 drops of serum to face, covering all redness and texture. Bring down your neck.
4. Moisturizers: Moisture Therapy and Moisture Repair
Smooth an even layer of each moisturizer onto skin (about a pea-size of each).
